Have you ever wondered why Trump supporters love Trump so much? Have you ever wondered what Donald Trump has done for them to make them so loyal to him? I mean its not like theyre in the top 1% and its not like hes given them permanent tax cuts. For SOME (not all) poor white people, obviously they dont have a lot of capital for whatever reason. They dont have money in the bank. They dont have investments. So the only form of capital that they have and that they can hang their hat on is social capital. What does social capital mean? It means white supremacy. They might be living in a dilapidated house. They might have not been able to afford a dentist. But in their minds they think At least were not *THOSE* people. So when Trump comes out and makes them feel superior to Muslims and people coming over the border they sit back and say, Thats right. Thats right. I am superior! And thats all these Trump supporters need from Trump. It doesnt matter to them that Trump is grifting them. When Trump says Hey send me money and me my friends will build the border wall and then they actually send him their money, and then Steve Bannon steals the money and Trump pardons him, none of that matters to these Trump supporters. Its why Trump is part of their identity. Because Trump validates their whiteness. Thats ALL they have to bank on (their hierarchy that so many of us are trying to break down). Thats the only thing making them feel that theyre worth something. And that alone is enough for them to do something like storming the capitol and say Yes, I will lay down my life for Trump. So if you ask a female Trump supporter why they are voting against their own interests they would say Were not.
