There's no reason not to go all-in on Rey.

They underestimated how much characters like Luke and Han meant to the series. They're stuck with what they're stuck with, so they may as well try and make the best of it. If Rey can be the star of four or five films, she can out-movie Luke if not best him as a protagonist.

It's just a pity that Jyn Erso was the one-off and Rey was the go-to. We could have had a strong, flawed, relatable, likable protagonist who earned her victories like a good protagonist should. Instead, we get some cardboard cutout who is just gifted at everything.

It's not Daisy Ridley's fault. She can only work within the perimeters of what she's given to work with. But Disney really shat the bed. It's like whitewashing the Mona Lisa, then breaking out a pack of crayons to draw in her replacement.
