"It's (Fine) fine for you / It's (Fine) fine to flirt / And (Oh), god, you're hot / Why do you even wear a shirt?"

And the last Mean Girls entry falls. For a movie like Mean Girls, there are definitely limitations on how villainous anyone can get. Like Regina at her absolute worst is like being mean and breaking up high school relationships. This shit isn't Carrie, it's called Mean Girls for a reason. In fact, this is one of the few songs where Regina's attitude is presented less like "I get what I want and don't care about anyone else" and more like "I actively want other people to suffer for my actions." It's an important turning point for Regina and I think really cements her as the villain of the story moreso than the other nominated songs.

It's also kind of a banger. I mean Renee Rapp is killing it, and I actually do prefer this version to the Broadway version! In general, I think the direction they went with this soundtrack, instrumentally, was excellent. The vibes here are darker, and I reminded a bit of Halsey's collaboration with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (one of the best albums of the last few years imo). I think if the movie would've committed a bit more with the full songs but kept this musical style it would have really cemented it as something great.
