The same is true of a lot of non-mutant characters with superpowers, yet in-universe they (usually) don't get the hate and fear that mutants do. Even in cases where those other superheroes are (unlike mutants) literally not human. The mutant-haters will be more accepting of a robot or an alien with superhuman powers than they will of a mutant.
