After a bit of grinding, including running around in circles in Floaroma Town for what felt like hours, I decided to take on Mars with the dyamic duo of Ermy, the Level 15 Togetic, and Raka, the level 16 Quilava. It... actually went a lot better than I was expecting. Ermy has great defense and managed to land two Charms (one intentional, one not) which rendered Purugly mostly powerless. He did get poisoned by the Zubat though, at which point I switched into Raka to tank some hits while I healed.
