I could see that argument. That said, given that NoA is based in an area where rock sounds like hawk, I think the idea that rawk = rock seems more likely.
I am saying that when people say, "let's rawk", it is meant to be a joke pronunciation of "let's rock". I don't care what Nintendo was doing.
