Ding ding ding.

This view is in itself childish. It ignores the role of vested political and financial interests, political parties, the role of the media aligned with and owned by those interests, the difficulty of funding a campaign, the decades of propaganda against left of center and anti-war candidates etc etc etc. Candidates that would have opposed this are not on the ballot, not because they're not popular, not because they don't exist, but because such people never get that far in the current system anyway.

I will never ever ever concede that expecting a candidate not to facilitate a genocide is childish. I do expect all my candidates to be 100 percent aligned on that basic requirement. Yes, I do. The fact that we've gotten to a place where keeping to that basement level expectation is regarded as pie in the sky idealism is the problem itself.
