So if someone delivering a package to the house gets mauled by the dog, it's the delivery person's fault? If you try and say the delivery person would have permission, then if someone for whatever legit reason decided to ring someone's doorbell to talk to the homeowner, it would be their own fault if they got mauled? This is the hill you are willing to die on? You think that is fucking normal to get mauled or killed for walking onto someone's property?
While a human should make a conscious decision of events, animals do not have human intelligence.
However, if a package delivery person cannot deliver the package to the property because of a domestic or pet animal, then the owner of the property or the person living on the property is at fault.
Where Ive lived, mailboxes were either attached to the front door or in front of the house. Put the animal down if it attacks, but if the owner was too stupid to realize the animal could attack and had a delivery person enter a space made unsafe by the animal, then hold the animals owner accountable too.
