The point is that touching a person's property shouldn't come with a death sentence, if you have a dog that will attack somebody who comes to your door that's a dog that needs to be put down and if you train the dog to do that you should be forbidden from pet ownership.
For me I view it as can versus will. I do not care if the animal can harm other humans, so long as the owner safeguards implements safeguards against the animal. If there were safeguards that were broken, then the person who broke those safeguards willfully put themselves into peril.
I generally think that its okay to own a dangerous animal, but the animal must be controlled. Unfortunately, pitbulls are an animal who seem to have a lot of owners who cant control them. People who own lions and alligators generally dont seem to have issues like this because they usually have to know how to keep people safe from their animals.
