She's a bit more extreme than I'd be but I don't necessarily disagree with her sentiment. I don't hate dogs but I'm hardly a fan of them. And society gives dogs so much social leeway that it is annoying. Like it isn't weird that I don't want your animal to jump up on me or lick me. I shouldn't have to go to a park and have strange animals run up to me and then be treated as the weird one for not liking it. And I certainly shouldn't have to be constantly watching my feet in public places because some jackass didn't pick up after their dogs shit.

And people will follow up with "well my dog doesn't do that. They are well behaved and always on a leash and I always clean up after them." Awesome. Good job, I genuinely don't have a problem with you or your well behaved dog. But the problem is that there are so many bad owners with I'll-trained dogs and there is just no societal push back on it. Leash laws rarely seem to be enforced. All the signs telling people to pick up their dog's shit doesn't actually make people do it. And despite the fragrant violations of rules and laws, people still look at me like I'm the one who is wrong for complaining about it.

If bad, irresponsible owners actually got in trouble or lost the right to have a dog, I'd have a much higher opinion of dogs overall.
