The only time you ever hear an ee pronunciation is at the end of a borrowed word like taxi or when its followed by an e.

Couldn't even finish the sentence without contradicting yourself.

Seriously, there are plenty of words where i can make an "ee" sound. Also his named is derived from the Okinawan word "tida", which means sun. So you're only supporting that it should indeed be tee-dus.
