No, they can't both be true, Trump lost by millions of votes (and who knows how many he would have lost by without voter suppression) but a tyrannical system appointed him anyway. Yes, because he won the electoral college. And he won the electoral college because stupid/short-sighted people in battleground/purple states either saw some value in him, thought Clinton was despicable enough to vote against, or decided it wasn't worth voting at all. That's how they're both true at the same time. The majority of the U.S. voting-age populace does not vote and is politically apathetic.
