From what I read, it depends, if they dont care too much, cgi in post with nothing in the gun and not even a real working gun, if they do care, blanks but usually there is either something between the actor firing, or the actor fires with no one there and then edited to show for safety. Blanks can be dangerous. The only benefit I see of a real blank is I'm guessing it provides semi accurate recoil where as otherwise the actor is gonna have to act that part too. --- I put my heart and soul into my work and I fear I have lost my mind in the process ...
