It's because of how they pick who gets to be the villain on the show that it ends up looking that way. It's not intentional. If someone is abrasive, they're the villain. It doesn't matter what their stance is. Rob Reiner is a bit of a jackass when it comes to how antismoking he is, so they're pro-smoking.
