I don't get why the security angle is being dismissed. China has been loading us with spies constantly, for years.

It's being dismissed because it's a load of horse shit, and it's the same load of shit that people have bought time and time again as an excuse for the government to chip away at more and more of your rights.

If this was really about security, then there would be action taken against social media companies that allow the type of stochastic terrorism of shit stains like Chaya Raichik, that has actually gotten Americans killed. That's way more important than some nebulous threat of what China may or may not do with people's data.
