That happened to Trump (twice), neither ended in an end to his presidency. I wonder if the Senate would have voted to remove Nixon at the height of the Cold War, luckily the threat alone was enough for Nixon to resign.Nixon had met the minority leaders of both the House and Senate after the Smoking Gun tape was released, and they confirmed to him that he didn't have enough votes in either the House or Senate to avoid impeachment and removal from office. That's why he resigned. If he thought he had any chance of having enough votes to avoid it, he would've stayed in office. --- "You need a hobby.
