I remember seeing a passionate scene between Kumiko and Reina on YouTube and having my interest piqued. Then I found out Kumiko ends up with her childhood friend and Reina has a crush on their teacher and now I have no desire to watch it.

These are both things that do not take away from the passion of the show.

Trust me, I hear you, but as someone who has had to fight against people turning their nose at the series for these reasons and having to fight through knowing it ahead of time myself, the show is truly worth watching, and extremely emotionally investing. I really, really struggled with whether it was actually going to take A Place Further's spot as my #1 anime of the decade more than anything else on my list, and the only reason it isn't #1 is because it's not over yet.
