Everyone who uses the boards are adults who may want to occasionally have conversations that aren't completely vapid. Teens (13+)/young adult's (18-20) seem to be the target audience these days. With how anti- they are, it's no surprise Fandom and other places are sanitizing sites. "Think of the children" has always been an easy way to change things. We're "protecting them" from mean words on the screen, protecting their fragile minds from evil "sex" related things, and allowing them to freely decapitate people in video games.
