From what a cop I know told me, the issue with DUIs is that they're a criminal statute so your normal traffic cop that's used to writing tickets all day for "minor" infractions will usually screw it up one way or another. So they'll typically get away with it after a lawyer gets involved. I knew a guy who had a dui dropped cause the cop let him drive away after issuing a citation for it lmao.
