Did you guys get the earlier Type-Rs? I have an FN2 as a fun car, I don't give it the love it deserves but it just keeps going. It was also relatively cheap to buy, as hot hatches go.

On the subject of hot hatches, the earlier Golf GTIs are cheap but it's very hard to find a good one. Same gig with Focus/Fiesta STs, there are decent examples out there but it takes a lot of trawling to find one.

Or, and whilst not particularly "date" driving, Impreza WRX estates are surprisingly cheap to buy and again, as long as you get a decent one, don't cost much to run.
