Don't get me wrong, Square has released a bunch of garbage over the course of a few years that looked like they cost a lot to make and then flopped hard. Look at things like Valkyrie Elysium, Harvestella, and Forspoken. At the same time, it feels like they're not being forthcoming about how successful large releases are (FFXVI and Remake/Rebirth) or how successful mid budget stuff in a more classic style is (Octopath 2, Bravely Default 2, Live A Live remake). It's tough to feel like they're really being successful, so some less reliable investments being cut is no surprise, but the direction they're looking to take is very unclear.Theyre publicly traded. You can just look up their quarterly reports or end of the year and do simple timelines. Theyre still reporting multibillion USD gross though, if there was any doubt. OmegaShinkai posted... please Square, I just want a new Valkyrie Profile and not some shitty action spinoffThe VP and SO IPs are owned and developed by Tri-Ace, with SE just publishing them. Im honestly not sure why Elysium was developed by a different studio, but I do know Tri-Ace helps SE do dev work and not the other way around; so its unlikely anything they want to make would be refused for publishing. --- No matter our origin, we are all one family, we all share one planet, and we all need to feel loved and accepted. We are more alike than different. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
