Topic	Square announces the cancellation of a bunch of in-development games.

Look at things like Valkyrie Elysium, Harvestella, and Forspoken. At the same time, it feels like they're not being forthcoming about how successful large releases are (FFXVI and Remake/Rebirth) or how successful mid budget stuff in a more classic style is (Octopath 2, Bravely Default 2, Live A Live remake). It's tough to feel like they're really being successful, so some less reliable investments being cut is no surprise, but the direction they're looking to take is very unclear. I don't get the warm fuzzies considering their direction lately. Last I heard, they hadn't dropped their desire to pursue NFTs, for example. And they love their mobile gacha garbage. I have zero confidence that this will turn out well. At this point it feels like Square Enix is largely propped up by FFXIV and Sony's desperation for exclusives. Theyre publicly traded. You can just look up their quarterly reports or end of the year and do simple timelines. Theyre still reporting multibillion USD gross though, if there was any doubt. Im honestly not sure why Elysium was developed by a different studio, but I do know Tri-Ace helps SE do dev work and not the other way around; so its unlikely anything they want to make would be refused for publishing. --- No matter our origin, we are all one family, we all share one planet, and we all need to feel loved and accepted.
