Some places don't card you if you obviously look old enough or if you're a known regular of age. Not sure whatever or not that's strictly legal but I'm not about to report not being carded when I'm 35. Yep I'm 35, I don't get carded anymore. I did once in the past couple years and I felt flattered, and my wife got carded when we saw Deadpool in the theaters, but yeah. The big deal here is: a random person looking at my birthdate and my face and then giving back my ID is a far, far cry from whatever shady shit porn sites would do and I would not want them having my ID associated with anything about the usage of that site.
