1960s didn't allow for husband and wife characters to be in the same bed even if fully clothed and even if they were just sleeping, reading or doing any non-sexual activity.

Even during the 90s and 2000s, Disney rewrote the lyrics to Aladdin (Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face) or keeping Song of the South and the uncensored Fantasia off the market.

Plus the merchant song in Small One being altered to be non-offensive.

And overall that's the thing. If people like Seinfeld were arguing for the right reasons, why downplay the 1900s tendency to show overconcern/oversensitivity? If your stance is correct, the truth should be your friend.
