That's always been his problem and Kendrick called it out.

Drake always wanted respect from the rap community. He was always low-key insecure that he was seen as a "pop rapper" with a core audience of women so he overcompensates with this tough guy persona that gets him into trouble.

It's like he's trying to avoid being another Ja Rule.
