I originally welcomed Trump's candidacy 2016, because I thought the GOP strategy back then of slowly whittling away at democracy was certain to work long term, and any disruption of that plan seemed good.

Now the reality is that Trump's ham-fisted and incredibly blatant assault on democracy is way the fuck too likely to succeed.

I welcomed Trump's candidacy in part back then because I didn't think we were that fucking stupid of a country just yet to actually allow him to get elected.

Still, the best response is to do everything you can to prevent any kind of Republican victory this November at any level of government. What led to the whole discussion here was the fear that the Supreme Court will just screw with the election results regardless. My response was to make the electoral win significant to the point the Supreme Court cannot feasibly just contest the results and expect there not to be a public outcry in response.
