I'd almost bet that "partner" by itself is used more commonly to mean in a romantic way than it is in a business type relationship since most I've seen would actually say "business partner" instead of just partner.

If I met you for the first time and you told me your name and said this person here is your partner, I would assume you meant life partner. I'm refuting your point about "partner" not having any romantic connotation to it.

Ive actually already addressed this point. I understand how people use the term and I never said it was grammatically incorrect.Partner can refer to any people that are working together on something. For me, thats far too impersonal to use for a significant other, and I think its weird.

I think youre missing the point of the topic.
