Maybe he has connections. Could definitely create some tasty drama by having Ted Wassanasan own Bobby's restaurant and get into regular executive meddling spats. With the backstory being that Ted saw potential in Bobby and gave him a loan or whatever to start his business, with some serious strings attached.
Ooh, actually, that would be a pretty damn good plot. With a later season (like 3 or 4) involving Bobby finally making enough money to go independent.

I wonder how Joseph will be like after getting past his awkward phase.

If he's anything like he was as a kid, then he's probably a chad wannabe who works in construction (with a focus on demolitions) or a pyrotechnics freelancer.
Ooh, even better-- he's on the police bomb squad. That'll piss daddy off. "How could you work for the government, son? And law enforcement, at that! What a waste of potential!" (There was definitely some strife bet. Joseph and Dale over his conspiracy shit once he reached the "OMG my parents are embarrassing my friends" stage of adolescence)
