The whole thing is weird. I think many of the people are downplaying the risks of doing it, but they probably have a point that there is a potential upside if the transition was done really well....but do we really trust Democrats to run any type of open primary or transition from Biden to Harris really well?

You also know, regardless of who is picked, these same people would whine about who the replacement candidate is.

It wouldn't even work, since all states have deadlines on when you can change the ballot lineup (to absurd degrees; e.g. you can't replace the candidate on the ballot if he goes to jail or withdraws from the race) and in some states, that deadline has already passed.

I don't think it's actually true that the deadline has passed. Especially since someone isn't even officially the candidate until after the convention, which hasn't happened yet.
