Yep, the first amendment is a pretty damn broad sword but you gotta keep in mind it's mostly to protect speech no one likes. The entire point is so you don't have to constantly say what everyone else is saying. In the past it has also allowed Nazi's to spew their hatred and the KKK.

Once you start censoring speech it's a slippery slope to removing nearly all speech that has any real interesting opinions or challenges the status quo.
