Disagree here though. It may apply to some cities, but not all. You're in for a rough time if you try to get everywhere by walking here in Los Angeles.

that's true, I was thinking mostly east coast since I live in MA. it definitely depends on the city

I lived in Tempe, AZ for like 9 months and I loved the roads there, but you could tell that was a city that someone designed ahead of time and not something that expanded naturally as people settled in new spots
