Another good, though not-at-all-humorous example is the universal condemnation of Pat Buchanan in the 2000 election, even though outside of his Christian nationalism, his platform was very similar to Trump's in 2016 (to be fair, he ran on the Independent ticket, so the Republicans had additional motivation to condemn him) BlueKat posted... And it wasn't even that loud. The mic on him made it seem way louder in audio clips than it actually was in real life and then certain media outlets ran with it. It wasn't the volume so much as the pitch and overall sound, after an overly excited statement that made it sound like he was WWE politicking (seriously, I saw plenty of people at the time comparing it to that and then saying that the Dean Scream was too timid/silly sounding to match up with it) "Yeeee-arrrrrrghhh!" It was misspelling potato, btwOh fuck, that's right >_<. For some reason I misremembered it as him pronouncing it "po-tah-toe" Dean's campaign was already sunk regardless of the scream. He had just bombed in the Iowa caucus and his campaign was a disaster internally.Yeah, but the Dean Scream absolutely stuck a fork in it, like-- dead-stop, and he received plenty of criticism for it even from the left. ...
