Today Consumer Reports released a list for what they consider to be the most reliable 5-10 year old used cars (I have no idea what their exact methodology is).

As expected, Toyota/Lexus takes the top 2 spots. Interestingly, BMW is in the top 10, something that would seem unheard of 10-20 years ago. Buick is also apparently the most reliable American car maker.

Stellantis would have swept the bottom worst three but Tesla had to sneak in to ruin Stellantis from claiming all three spots on the bottom podium.
The unreliability of the German brands has always been way over exaggerated.

The real issue is because they have high depreciation, a 16 year old trying to stunt in the student parking lot will buy a $3000 BMW from a sketchy dealer, only to find out that the repairs still cost the same even if the car itself is cheap.

Ive owned three German cars and four American cars and the German cars have been way more reliable overall.
