Asking one side to just "stop" isn't a solution. So, what should be done?1) US conditions future aid to Israel on abiding by the laws of war and respecting the rights of civilians in the occupied territories, including both the West Bank and Gaza. Israel is to show concrete steps that settler violence in the West Bank is being adequately responded to and that Israel is taking adequate steps to shield civilians in Gaza from unnecessary violence. 2) The US ceases its carte-blanche protection of Israel in the Security Council and its refusal to recognize Palestine as a full member of the body. 3) The US supports and passes a resolution for a UN peacekeeping mission to Palestine. This will involve removing Hamas from power and disarming them of their munitions. This will also involve a staged removal of all Israeli settlements on lands outside the internationally-recognized 1948 borders of Israel. 4) Palestine will be recognized as a sovereign nation. Peacekeepers will remain in Palestine until such time as the UN is satisfied that violent elements in both Israel and Palestine have been adequately dealt with and the risk of future conflict is low. --- Kill 1 man: You are a murderer.
