There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

You're not somehow sinless if you go to McDonald's instead, as an example, because they happily make sure their workers suffer to the point they just straight up tell their workers how to get food stamps because they know they're fucking evil and no one's going to do shit about their poverty wages.

This also ignores other complexities of the issue, e.g. is it homophobic to work at CFA, knowing you might not get a job elsewhere? Plenty of queer friends of mine have worked there in the past.

To be clear, I'm not saying "eating at CFA is a good thing, actually" - but rather, there is no real moral high ground with this kind of junk. All you do is pick a different sin to support. I won't give people shit for boycotting them of course, but I'll simply admit that I'm a slave to my baser instincts and, as no good alternative short of a home-cooked meal exists (and even that is another rabbit hole to go down), admit that if I'm going to get food with blood on my hands I'll at least eat food that's tasty.

If you think there's no ethical consumption and that bothers you, why not try to fight it? One person can't fight every battle, but we don't have to. It doesn't take everyone to pressure a corporation, just enough people.
This is why we got unions and why corporate politics is pushing back so hard against these in the past few decades.

If we tell you Cick Fila is unethical and you reply "McDonald's is also unethical" this shouldn't make you feel like its given you an excuse to eat Chick Fila, you should be protesting McDonalds. Making capitalism more ethical is a process, don't give up because there's no magic want to wave to make it all go away at once. Frankly, you're right about McDonalds employees being underpaid, I'd support you enthusiastically if you were fighting that rather than fighting people trying to force Chick Fila to shape up.

Besides, eating out at fast food places is hardly an essential habit you can't curtail to make a point.
