If you fuck up the software, you just have to wipe it and start again. Even if you break it and can't figure out how to fix it yourself, getting a technician to fix this is a 1-2 hour job that doesn't require purchasing parts, compared to replacing a part which is also the same time if not more and does require purchasing parts.
