...What. No, it's not that complicated.

Living paycheck to paycheck literally just means that you have either nothing, or incredibly little, left to spend as disposable income and/or to put into savings, from every paycheck.

Bank of America Institute defines living paycheck to paycheck as a households "where necessity spending is more than 95% of their household income, leaving them relatively little left over for 'nice to have' discretionary spending or saving."

It has nothing to do with quarters or anything.
