| El_Marsh 11/29/24 9:29:16 PM #32: | "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" by the Fifth Dimension https://youtu.be/06X5HYynP5E?si=Ajy2YrOi_5jkdd93 While their arrangement was possibly the first major label recording of the song (it was certainly the most successful), it's actually a medley of 2 songs ("Aquarius" and "The Flesh Failures" (Let the Sun Shine In)) from the musical Hair, which debuted Off-Broadway in 1967, two years before the Fifth Dimension's version. Also "Because the Night" by 10,000 Maniacs https://youtu.be/_AQByCFr0gs?si=FSfsgy3ux5I1n1iN A cover of the Patti Smith song from 1977 (co-written by her and Bruce Springsteen). I've always enjoyed both versions. Patti Smith and Natalie Merchant have two VERY different voices, but they're both very 'powerful' in distinctive ways.
