Link still being a silent protagonist in this day and age is beyond lame and is one of the main reasons why I just can't truly get into a zelda game post nintendo 64 (when it comes to the console zeldas ocarina of time+majora's mask were the last 2 I truly loved, and oracles of seasons+ages are my favorite 2D zeldas). Even zelda and ganondorf gets to be voiced these days, but muh tradition is still keeping link from barely emoting or having reactions during story sequences.

Zelda fanboys like with this writer for this screenrant article always repeat that same ol' "He can't have a voice because then it would be impossible to have the player put theirselves in link's shoes. He must be a self-insert!" and headcanon stuff like "he must stay silent and strong to bear any burden!". Yeah no, change just absolutely terrifies everyone, and talking video game link is super duper scary, =/
