PowerOats posted... Gameplay:
- I mainly stuck with Full Metal Jaguar since it seemed the most involved class gameplay wise. There was a whole lotta movement that didnt seem present in other classes.
- I loved the way Xeno 3 DLC set everything as a key to getting you more options in combat, from treasure, to beating tyrants. XCX should have that
- It should also add in art cancelling. I see there is a recast button, but something even more proactive would be even better.
It sounds like you didn't make the most of the combat system if you mostly stuck with Full Metal Jaguar. You were missing out by not mix and matching.
- Skells feel both weak and powerful, until you gain enough resources to build a custom high-end Skell which takes AGES
- Skell combat feels underwhelming, a lot of attacks have like no oomph or good sfx. Compare to any fight in Xeno 3 or Rebirth, games with good hitstop and SFX.
- In general combat doesnt feel as good as I think it should. Its lacking a lot of flourishes that Xeno1DE &Xeno3 captured.
Skells do take a while to feel OP, i'll give you that. I felt that the combat was easily better than XC 1 and 2. And arguably better than 3 as well with build customization.
Grinding;
- I dont mind grinding sometimes, But I cannot stand fighting some powerful boss monster for several mins, only for it to not drop the thing I came for. To me, that's a waste of time. There needs to be a way to significant increase or guarantee specific drops. Tickets is a small remedy to this, but some of those items cost 1k in tickets, even with a online team hunting for tickets, it took a while.
Yeah the grinding sucked. I remember having to fight the online bosses over and over. It does sound like they've improved the ticket system, and even made them available to offline players. But I haven't seen mention of drop rates yet. Hopefully there's improvements there. I know XC1 DE improved the terrible Colony 6 reconstruction by letting you eventually buy the materials needed instead of having to farm all of it.
For that, add in Launch > Smash, and Daze > Burst
Not sure if game the will have chat or online features like OG but it it does;
- The chat function sucked in OG. It took way to long for your message to get up, it couldnt be reviewed, and it kept getting interrupted by miiverse memes. They should just add a chatlog
- playing online with friends was... quick and lame. Unless everyone was doing missions, it never really felt connected and people would often join multiplayer servers and reap the rewards but not contribute
-
Not sure what they've improved with online features, but at the very least you won't have to deal with the miiverse memes since they discontinued that service and it was never on the Switch.
