I've lived the vast majority of my life in SE Minnesota and all over Iowa and have never even one time seen anyone make a grilled cheese sandwich with mayo. And believe me, I've known plenty of people with questionable cooking skills/taste but no one has ever ruined a grilled cheese with mayo in my presence. Never. I can't speak for the south, but it's not a Midwest thing anywhere I've lived or visited. --- Atheists do look for answers to existance itself.
