The normal way, which is 3 (or more) laps, and the new way, which is race from your kurrent area to the next track and then race around that track, but for only 1 lap. In online rooms, any one of the 2 ways will show up in the small assortments of selectables, but picking "Random" was a guaranteed way to have the track be a normal 3-lap race.
