Topic | why does loki have a similar color scheme to vision |
Compsognathus 07/04/25 2:22:23 AM #9: | You worked with the colors you could affordably print. So you largely worked with real basic colors. And when that's the case their are only so many combinations that work well with one an other. Green and Yellow is one of them. When you are creating dozens of characters you are going to run into repeated schemes. To compound there was a lot of color archetyping back in the day. Reds and blues were heroes colors. Greens and purples were villain colors. Yellow frequently ended up as a complimentary color to either of those schemes. So if your villain wasn't green and purple, they were probably green and yellow. Loki, Electro and originally Vision were all villains. Now there were obviously exceptions, and over the years they started using a lot more colors for heroes and villains, but you still ended up with an entire era of very similarly colored characters. saspa posted... Oh lord. And I thought obsession with redhead was their trait This is similar. Look at an older comic and look at the hair color of minor and background characters. It's overwhelmingly dark-haired with a sprinkling of blondes. So how do you make an important supporting character stand out. Give them red hair. It's a visual shorthand to indicate that this is someone important. It makes them pop out more. So you got disproportionate number of girlfriends and sidekicks with red-hair. Also female heroes. This is the reason why their is a "trend" in casting comic red heads with black people in adaptations. Old comic casts were not diverse to say the least. The adaptation understandably want to add diversity to the cast to better reflect the world. They are generally not going to change the race of the lead hero, so they look to the next most important character. And those characters are disproportionately red heads. It's not a conspiracy against red heads it's just two different trends that targeting the same group of characters. --- 1 line break(s), 160 characters allowed ... Copied to Clipboard! |
