By not allowing you to gift to a region with +/- 10% price difference apparently stops, or at the very least reduces, the amount of scams where people set up dummy Steam accounts from the region with the cheaper prices, usually via a VPN (much like you did when you set up your account in the Netherlands, although I suspect you did it for different reasons), then gift to their main account games that now cost them next to nothing due to regional prices. Yeah, this is my only Steam account. I had set it using VPN because back when I made it you weren't allowed to even visit, let alone make accounts to, pretty much anything american due to the sanctions on my country because of the Assad regime. Heck, that is still the case for some things despite the sanctions being recently lifted lol. Ebay and Patreon still give an "Access Denied" error upon trying to enter them with no VPN for example, and I can't log into my Epic account without VPN. Though I don't get why Steam doesn't install a "You pay the higher price for the gift" rule in this case: The gifter always pays the higher price of the two. That would stop that issue completely without severely limiting people's ability to gift. --- WHO AM I?FFTHEWINNER.
