The National Weather Service had placed Kerr County and other counties in the region under a flood watch ahead of the flooding on July 3, but Kelly said the extent of the flooding was a surprise.

"No one knew this kind of flood was coming," he said, adding that Kerr County doesn't have a warning system that could have alerted residents the night of July 3.

And I'll suggest he's a goddamn liar.

NWS offices lost 44% of their staff this year as a result of Trump, that Kerr County voted for, and Musk, who Kerr County knew by election day was part of the package deal.

The models for rain were fucked because funds weren't there for balloons, and the chief meteorologist had to leave, and you had half the staff (and thus analysis capability) missing.

You can't convince me that this was unavoidable if we'd been staffing properly during this dangerous time of year. Trump kneecapped NOAA leading directly to results like this.

There was a warning system in place. There was the capacity to predict this. And it was decimated by people like Kerr County residents who voted for the guy who promised to do it.
