azuarc 07/07/25 1:10:40 PM #28: | Adularia Meridian Dance Full Steam Ahead beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA - Adularia (Long Mix) receives rank 16 of 45. Adularia was at one point a support consideration. I'm kinda curious who the two groups are on the album art (but not enough to find out.) You know if something sounds kinda like Nekomata Master, but not quite, it's usually DJ Totto. I generally like songs from both. I wouldn't say Adularia does any one particular thing well that calls my attention to it, but amidst the glissandos and dramatic pauses, I simply find everything here pretty decent. 7.4/10 Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Eye of the Beholder (Sega CD) - Dwarven Ruins receives rank 45 of 46. The track is kinda light-hearted in a serious way, if that makes any sense. Like, it's very tense, but in an off-balance way. Maybe because of all the varied meters it uses, some of which can't even be counted in 4 despite having a quarter note pulse. (Seems like it's usually 12 plus or minus 1 out of 8?) Anyway, other than metric guessing games, DR doesn't really do much for me. 4.5/10 Secret of Mana - Meridian Dance receives rank 1 of 47. Nhelv would probably have a better chance against Battle F8, but I'm happy Meridian is here. Is there a SNES track with a sicker bass line? And the song overall slaps, too. It means a lot to me that an original SoM track actually won a match for only the second time in 16 tries, even if all of those were prior to VGMC10. I'm not sure if I favor Fear of the Heavens or Meridian Dance, but I decided pre-contest that the final boss track would have a better shot than the title, and so far the reception has been pretty decent. That probably ends today. =( 9/10 Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse - Battle - f8 One Who Stands Against God receives rank T10 of 48. The "oops we all forgot to support it" track is in this year and crushing heads. It's not hard to see why. This isn't a style I normally like, and even I appreciate it a good bit. Unless it massively overperformed against Beastieball, it's easy to assume we'll be seeing Precipice vs F8 in round 5. After it beats Meridian Dance, I'll probably be aboard. 7.9/10 The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks - Realm Overworld (Full Steam Ahead!) receives rank 9 of 49. It's such a fun, happy track that I was thrown off when it hit a B section over two minutes in. I'm not sure if I've heard that part before. It's weirdly melancholy, and yet somehow doesn't detract from the optimism of the A part. 8/10 Senko no Ronde Rev.X Last Stand receives rank 38 of 50. Chill, decent track that's unfortunately never taking the W here for me. Also, how many songs are there titled Last Stand? Seems like a lot. 5.8/10 --- Only the exceptions can be exceptional. ...
