I like that the first act was different from the standard. As Gunn has said, nobody needs to be introduced to Superman. Even still, the first act of the film showed Superman with his dog, at his home and how he's powered by sunlight, the villain of the film and his team of powers, Superman's conflict with trying to do good in a world with social media and criticism, and his preference to choose life over killing when the Justice Gang shows up to help stop the kaiju.

It's a really effective first act. I think it does feel a little weird though, since it's not slower paced at all. The slowest moving scenes of any are the Lois and Clark scenes.
