I just do not get how people are so easily duped over and over and over about how it is in their best interest to cede power to the rich, let the take away all of their benefits and pass the tax burdens back to the less fortunate. In 2006 the Right campaigned on change and something new. We had had the same PM, Socialdemocrat leader Gran Persson, for 10 years and people were starting to be tired of him. He felt tired himself. So people voted for a younger fresh face. Persson should have stepped down ahead of the 2006 election but his crown princess, Minister of Foreign Affairs Anna Lindh, was assassinated in 2003 and the party was without a clear successor so he stayed on. The Conservative leader, Fredrik Reinfeldt, who became PM in 2006 was narrowly re-elected in 2010. Incumbent advantage mixed with a confused messy opposition. In 2022 anti-immigration views gave the Right a razor thin victory: 176 MPs vs 173. --- "BalanceLost has a steam-powered PS2 because Sweden don't have electric" - dimeanatrix ...
