And see the branching scenario that comes from this in my mind is someone might then say "Well, I'm glad to be single if this is such a minefield to navigate," which then tends to inspire responses of "Do you think you're going to RAPE someone?"

It was made to sound like a bad situation so someone saying that they're relieved they stay out of it says something that gets suddenly gets pounced on.

The fact that this is a concern for you over being raped and murdered is already an indication of what your concerns are vs the average woman's.

Which isn't at all suggesting you would engage in such behavior. Just that fearing about potential social status loss means you're probably not as worried about never being seen again if you date the wrong person.

It's exhausting and it's not fair, but that's the way it is. If society as a whole was less shitty towards women, maybe they wouldn't be as fearful for their life.

Instead, we live in a country where a 10 year old can't get an abortion without having to jump through a thousand hoops. Despite the fact that there is no consensual way for a 10 year old to have to need one in the first place.

Honestly, talk to your female friends. They can help shed some light on the issue with their perspective.
