i've never watched breaking bad, cant get past like the second episode where they try to melt a body in a bathtub, but if its anything like better call saul then i imagine you spend most of the series trying to like the MC and ignoring all his faults until you reach a point that you cant keep rationalizing away how much of an asshole they are.

Yeah exactly like that, but instead of a guy that you can give plausible deniability to cause he initially presents as a down on his luck guy trying to practice the law it's a guy that almost immediately starts selling meth, refuses any sort of help that are clear off-ramps of the stories apparent trajectory, and even kills a guy; and that's 3 episodes into a 7 episode first season. So its weird how people even to this day just completely miss the point despite Walter himself telling you directly that he's a monster at multiple points in the story just to hate on Skyler.
