The Switch 2 didn't sell out because Nintendo produced enough to actually meet launch demand. Even at $450 (which, as mentioned, is still cheaper than the competing consoles), it still became the fastest-selling console in history, so there was never an issue of finding enough people willing to buy one at that price.
